Goals

Above all, I’d like to be a winning player at several poker disciplines. Namely, I love Limit Hold’em, No-Limit Tournaments, and Omaha Eights-or-Better, but if I can, I’d like to learn stud games as well.

Here are my concrete goals:

  1. Build My Bankroll to $1,000
Seeing that the measurement of success in poker is money, it seems fitting that I try to build my bankroll successfully. When I started this blog, I had $5.07 in my account. Chris Ferguson did it with $0 in 9 months, so I suppose that is my goal timeline.
  2. Win a 100+ Entrant Tournament
This can be done in any poker discipline. I’ve done it once in No-Limit, and almost made a final table in another tournament (got 12th for a little over $600). I hope to do it again during this little journey of mine
  3. Earn 2,000 Frequent Player Points
For those that don’t play online, almost every online poker room offers points in some way shape or form. They aren’t money; they simply reward frequent play. The more hands or tournaments you play, the more points you’ll earn, which can get you money, books, entries into tournaments, etc.

For instance, the reason I’d like to earn 2,000 FPPs is that I have my eye on a book: Mathematics of Poker. Yes, I’m a dork. I could always save a little more (2,900) and name a star.

I know this isn’t an actual poker goal, but obviously my bankroll needs to stay afloat in order to obtain this number of points.
